Introduction to Gouache

Learn to use the opaque water media, gouache, for beautiful botanical illustrations. Its forgiving nature makes it ideal for beginners and anyone who loves vivid color.

Materials Needed: Watercolor sketchbook or pad (Strathmore 400 watercolor, Stonehenge HP, etc.), HB pencil, pencil sharpener with catcher, ruler or dividers, Acryla gouache Primary Mixing set of 5 (magenta, cyan, yellow, black and white), 1 or 2 small water containers or jars, Cotman or Princeton Lauren or other good quality synthetic watercolor brushes in sizes 6, 4 &1, small water mister (this is important for acrylic gouache!), freezer paper, and small rectangular food container to store leftover paint (optional).
